Reporting Errors

No major software project (independent if Open Source or commercial) is fully free of bugs. Only if the bugs are tracked and reported to the developers, can a solution be worked out.

Thanks to the active developers and the WB-community, a bugfix is available from CVS about one or two days after it is reported. Minor bugfixes will be integrated with the next official release of WB (about 1-2 times a year). Bugfixes are tracked and reported via the external program TRAC.

Critical bugs with potential to compromise a WB installation are announced in the WB forum Board: Security Announcements. Bugfixes for critical bugs are distributed with an announcement via the forum, TRAC, or as a new WB release. Critical bugs are treated very serious by the developers.

There are two ways of reporting bugs to the developers and the WB-Community:

  1. Via the bugtracker system TRAC from the WB project side
  2. Via posting an announcement in a new topic in the WB forum

Reporting bugs via the bugtracker system

The WB bugtracker system can be accessed via the WB project site. To prevent spam one needs to register the first time. The registration link Register can be found in the top right corner.

The bugtracker management of the WB project side

Once you are registered, you can login to the bugtracking system via the link Login. If the login was sucessfull, the button New Ticket is displayed beside the button View Tickets.

Before reporting a new bug by clicking on the button New Ticket, make sure that the error was not already reported by someone else.

Downloading minor bugfixes

Via the bugrackting system, one can view the applied changes for the reported bugs and download a fixed version of the corresponding file(s). All changes applied to the WB project side are recorded by TRAC. The latest changes can be browsed by clicking on the link Timeline. You can hide/extend the views via settings available from a user form on the right hand side.
